TEAM welcomes proposals from established and new writers with ideas for future programmes. During the course of a TEAM commission we will provide all the necessary support for a writer to develop their idea and to ensure that the work reaches its target audience.
The commissioning process currently works as follows:
1. If you have an idea for a play that you would like us to consider then please send a page treatment with brief synopsis/thematic guide/character breakdown/proposed target audience and any other information you think will help us assess your proposal. The Artistic Director (artisticdirector@teamtheatre.ie) will read this and will then contact you to arrange a meeting.
2. At this meeting the Artistic Director will brief you in more detail on current programming plans and the background and circumstances of TEAM’s work. At this stage you may be asked to submit previous work for reading and comment.
3. After the Artistic Director has had an opportunity to become further acquainted with your writing (and dependent on many circumstances) you may be contracted to provide a detailed treatment (4-8 pages) that develops your idea. This will then be discussed and developed with the Artistic Director and the Education Officer.
4. Following this you will be contracted to write a first draft, which will also be discussed and developed with the Artistic Director and the Education Officer. More often than not we will request a second draft that seeks to incorporate these developments.
5. Upon receipt of the second draft we will further develop the play including workshop sessions with actors and members of the target audience. At this stage the Education Officer will also have further input to establish ways in which the supporting education programme will support the play and vice versa. This process will more often than not result in a third draft.
6. After further development sessions to refine the play (in particular with members of the target audience) we will go into production.
We look forward to hearing from you!
